Things are indeed different.
For starters, I'm sitting on the sofa next to the hubs. Not because he has an extra night off, but because he is home in the evenings now! He accepted a position on first shift, meaning we work pretty much the same hours! For the first time in nearly 4 years, we have dinner together nearly every night. Ansley gets to see both parents, AT THE SAME TIME.
If that wasn't awesome enough, I am writing this from my very own laptop. We've had internet at the house for about a year, but our desktop decided to bite the dust. In addition, life with a two year old means I am going constantly. By the time I get the kiddo in bed, I hit the hay soon after. I'll admit it. I have a self-imposed bed time that I follow pretty regularly. At 10 p.m., I turn into pumpkin. A mean one. Normally though, I ended up finally sitting down about 9:30, and I would fall asleep, on the couch, before 10, moving to the bed when the husband got home.
Hopefully, with the holidays coming to a close, things will settle down and we will find a routine to fit into. At least, until May.
Because actually, that last post about why I've been so tired? I was joking about being pregnant.
And some divine power didn't think it was funny.
Because I am.
And I really am exhausted.
So, there.

Overnight
A lot of things can happen overnight.
Like, you can go to bed living in a peaceful country, and wake up to your nation being attacked.
Or, you can settle in for a late night with a month left to go in your pregnancy, and wake up to your water breaking.
Or, you can go to bed with your baseball team winning, and wake up to realize that they were knocked out and won't make an appearance in the World Series.
Or, you can go to bed with a completely gummy baby, and wake up to one that has a tooth! And, I might add, a second one quickly behind.
That could possibly explain the torture that was the last few nights.
I think I'm going to miss the gummy grins though... But, at least Paul will stop practically chewing her food for her. I'm over the whole baby bird thing.
Yay for Ansley!
disclaimer: Paul doesn't actually chew Ansley's food for her. Instead of cutting or tearing things, he bites it off for her. Still grosses me out though.

Oh my.
My child likes to shake her booty.
More specifically, she likes to shake her booty to rap music.
And the theme song for "Bones."
What a cute little weirdo.

Big news!
You know how sometimes, it's just easier to hide behind your computer screen to make an announcement, because you don't have to deal with the cheers and hugs, and even potential tears that come along?
Well, that's what I've decided to do. Partially because I can express myself much better through written words, and partially because I'm not a real touchy-feely kinda person. This is my space. That is yours. Don't invade my space without being invited, m'kay?
Anyhoo, the announcement. Paul and I decided to add another to our family. ::gasp:: Yes, it's true, and it's already happened.
We have been talking about it for some time now, but just didn't know if it was a commitment we were ready for. Ansley is a handful, and I can't even imagine adding more to my plate. But, things just seemed to fall in to place.
The first opportunity presented itself, and Paul was much more on board with the idea than I was. I mean, he's gone during the evenings, and that leaves me to handle a lot. But, I agreed, and we soon discovered that it didn't work out.
I felt relieved, but at the same time, I had that nagging feeling like I missed out. You know, like when you get the opportunity to enjoy a nice Mudslide, but pass up the drink because it's way expensive and is approximately the same price as that cute shirt on sale at Old Navy, and then they don't have the shirt in your size? Yeah, that's what it felt like.
But, a second opportunity came along, so, I took it.
It has taken me a while to let the cat out of the bag. I guess because I didn't want to be considered one of those people. You know, the ones that have a house full and are in way over their heads and still sign up to host a small group, a Mary Kay party and dog sit for their neighborhood? Yeah, I judge those people. I'm sorry, but if you can't properly care for one, and are nearly bald after a hectic day of feedings and cleanings, should you continue to add more to that already full plate?
How long has it taken, you ask? Well, we are certain of his status as a male. There is no doubt. We've even decided on a name already! We tossed a few around, like Jack, Max, and Remington. I also really liked the option of Hugo, but Paul said it was weird and I needed to get over my fixation with Lost. But, we finally decided.
We decided on Rufus. Yeah, a little bit out there, but we like it. It's different, and unique.
So, go ahead. Consider use those people. Judge us. Yes, our plates are full, but that's the way we like our house as well.
Hopefully, I'll do a much better job uploading pictures. I haven't been very successful in the past, but we'll see. So, world of the web, I introduce you to Rufus!

Oh, I'm sorry. Did I forget to mention that Rufus is a puppy? I hate when I leave out the most important fact!
Our house is full! Ansley, then furbabies Rascal, Bunker and Rufus (who will hopefully encourage the hubs to add a fence so he can live outside!)

Yay! She's out!
So, have you ever had a really juicy piece of gossip that you just HAD to share?
The Christian thing to do is disguise it as a prayer request. That wouldn't work in this situation.
Or, you tell the hubby just to get it off your chest, but he doesn't give you the excited response you think your news deserves.
Or, you think about posting it on your blog, changing the names to protect the innocent, and hope that person doesn't catch on that Sally has their exact same story.
This has been my battle. My month-long battle. But, now, I can pound it out in all it's glory. I can shout it from the roof tops.
MY BESTIE IS KNOCKED UP!
That's right, she outed herself on facebook, so it is now free reign. I can tell people. I can write about it. I can talk to her about it in public. And, dangit, I can openly pass along the maternity clothes.
Not that this is reason for a separate blog post, but this news has been a long time coming, and I'm just. so. excited. There is much more to the story that makes this news truly grand. In fact, with the news came the tears. My tears. And I'm not the least bit jealous.
So, friends of the interwebs. Bask in the glow of your computer screen, which represents the glow of my joy. I'll make sure she knows that lunch meat is okay to eat. And so is feta cheese. And lack of symptoms does not mean lack of pregnancy. Oh, the first trimester. ::Sigh::
Ok. Maybe just a little bit jealous. But not enough to go through it all again. Not yet, anyway.
So, here's to you, Cathy, uh, I mean, Sally. Cheers!
